★   对原中文条款进行“语内译”可以理顺中文的条款的内含，即委托人和受托人签订的是委托合同，凭借这个合同，委托人的事务由受托人处理。这样用whereby就可以简便而准确地把句子的前后部分连接在一起。

★   whereby: by the agreement; by the contract; by the following terms and conditions etc. 凭此协议，凭此条款等等，此词常用于合同协议书中，引出合同当事人应承担的主要合同义务。

   为了加深对这些词的认识，再从FIDIC条款中选择几句英文原文作英译中练习。可与中译英作一对照。

   例1：

   We hereby certify to the best of our knowledge that the foregoing statement is true and correct and all available information and data have been supplied herein, and that we agree to provide documentary proof upon your request.

   文中：

★   hereby: by means of, by reason of this,特此，因此，兹等意，常用于法律文件、合同、协议书等正式文件的开头语；在条款中需要强调时也可以用。上文中hereby:特此之意。

★   另有些专业用语也一并作些解释。如：to the best of our knowledge: as far as we know。

★   foregoing statement: above-mentioned statement 上述声明。
